The story of the Nymphet of Burlesque Some years back I was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Rather Ken-O-sha as my friends seem to think I say it. I was born under the sign of Aquarius on January 26th. I am both the only and the youngest of my family. The only off spring from my parents together. I think they learned their lessons. I do have 2 older brothers and 1 older sister. 2 of which are my mothers and 1 of which is my father's. But this is about me, not them. I grew up not exactly a girlie girl and not exactly a tomboy. I played Barbies and pretended I was the Ultimate Warrior from WWF (Now WWE). I grew up watching Police Academy and to this day have a fond crush on police officers and Steve Guttenberg. I was surprisingly active as a child, climbing trees, doing fancy tricks on the bars - penny drop anyone? I am thinking that is probably why I am so lazy today... I used up all my energy back then. I always had a love for dancing and although I never had formal training I always believed I could do it. I would dance around the living room to Culture Club and Madonna mostly. I also remember playing Heart a lot. "Never" is such a home sicker to me now. I can't forget about New Kids on the Block. *SQUEE* Joey McIntyre was my boyfriend and still can be if he plays his cards right. For school talent shows I would always put together a dance routine of sorts and was always the best act there. I like to think so anyway.Speaking of school. I wasn't one of the popular kids, closer to the bottom of the totem. I was a bit weird and never cared what others thought of me. Funny how things never change. I really had no fashion sense and just did my own thing. My mom and I stayed in Kenosha through my 8th year of Jr High. I wouldn't say Jr High was a horrible experience, but it was no Babysitters' Club either. Once again I had no fashion sense and just did my thing. How people never tried to kick my ass or tease me, I will never know. Perhaps they did, I didn't know -- nor did I care. I don't think it was very eventful back then, but perhaps I just pushed it out of my memory. What I didn't push out of my memory was Mr. Soulek -- The hottie principle and Mr. Sens and Mr. Hlavka the hottie teachers. My mom decided to finally make her move to AZ and she took me with her. I said goodbye to my friends... all 3 of them... what were their names... and in a full car with our dog Tiffany, we made the 3 day trip westward. We ended up in Prescott where I began my High School career. History once again repeated itself and my HS years at PHS were a bore uneventful and I was an outcast still not caring what anyone thought. It was fun I suppose, but not the best years of my life. While in High School I got a job at Domino's Pizza and developed a crush on my manager. Fast forward to me being 18 for a few months and there I began dating him. Together we moved down to Phoenix and 2 years later we were married. Our marriage was so successful he cheated on me 2 weeks after we were married. For some reason I forgave that and we stayed married for a total of 3 years. The last year we were separated. The best things to come from that marriage were my baby boys, Bonzai and Samurai. My 2 shiba inus whom I love dearly and you will often see me in pictures with or talking about. So when I refer to "my boys" I mean my furry children as I have yet to spawn any devils of my own. One more wonderful glorious discovery happened while I was married. Burlesque. While I always loved and had an interest in vintage, I really started to get into the scene around 2001. I was looking online for "modern pinups" when I came across Cherry Malone's site. She had just won Miss Exotic World and I was in awe of what I saw. Not just with Cherry but with all I was reading on Exotic World and Burlesque. I always knew the idea of Burlesque existed, but I didn't know it had a name. I found the EW message board and asked when the next one was going to be. Cherry's Mom replied thinking I meant I wanted to be in it and I never corrected her until I was finished making my Burlesque debut at Exotic World 2002. Looking back I was a clueless kid at what I was doing (I still am, in many ways), but I was in love. I was in love with Burlesque. Funny how things work out... I now find myself living back in Kenosha, WI with a new outlook on life and out of the stagnate humdrum I was in while in Phoenix. Now here I am today... still building a career in Burlesque and in internet celebrity. Trying to catch up for wasted time. I feel like I am just beginning although I have been out there for almost 9 years now. From this point on I hope you will all continue to follow me as I find my rebirth in this world of striptease and vintage life. It can only get better from here! |
